It is reported by The Washington Post.

Paulson said Republicans are at a crossroads because Donald Trump is “pushing the big party into a populism” that is rooted in “ignorance, prejudice, fear and isolationism.”

“All of this concerns me deeply as a Republican, but I am even more concerned as an American. You need to know when to stop. It's time to put country before party and say, together, 'No to Trump,'" Paulson continued.

He emphasizes that he is Trump's first Republican opponent, but hopes to add weight to the discussion as a former head of the US Treasury and Goldman Sachs.

Paulson noted that Trump’s promise to work as president similar to his own business is rather a threat, since his tactics would not work even in a successful company, much less in running a powerful country.

The former head of Goldman Sachs adds that a good businessman always weighs the facts before making decisions, while Trump grossly distorts the facts in defense of his position.

According to Paulson, America avoided another Great Depression in 2008 because Democrats and Republicans worked together. Now unification is needed to solve political problems, and unlike current President Barack Obama, Donald Trump is not ready for compromise.

“When it comes to the presidency, I will not vote for Trump. I will vote for Hillary Clinton with the hope that she can rally Americans to a stronger economy, environment, and place in the world. To my Republican friends, I know I'm not alone,” concludes the former Treasury Secretary.

Let us remind you that earlier the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Republican Paul Ryan, who previously supported Trump’s candidacy in the presidential election, accused the billionaire of racism due to his comment about a judge of Mexican origin. In addition, Republican and ex-presidential candidate Mitt Romney said that he was not going to support Trump because he did not want to see leaks of racist ideas and xenophobia. The influential Republican oligarchic Bush clan, which gave the country two presidents, also refused to support Trump.

On according to Russian sociologist Boris Kagarlitsky, who tracks the vicissitudes of the American election campaign, accusations of fascism against Donald Trump are becoming a constant refrain of the Clinton campaign, and, paradoxically, they are not directed against Trump himself, but primarily against the socialist candidate Bernie Sanders and his supporters.

“Since Trump is an “absolute evil,” then everyone should unite around a “lesser evil” in the person of Hillary, and the senator from Vermont, who with his nomination is preventing this consolidation, should leave the stage,” Kagarlitsky explains the similar propaganda logic of the Clinton campaign.

Let us recall that one of the scandals that has accompanied Hillary Clinton’s current campaign is her speech “not for the press” before the financial tycoons of the Goldman-Sachs corporation, during which she promised them preferences if she was elected.

“Information about the contents of the transcript is gradually leaking to the press. Employees of Goldman-Sachs who were present at the speech say that the former first lady actually discussed with the bankers how they would all “cut” the national budget together,” says Boris Kagarlitsky.
