Zealous Ukrainians began to write denunciations against Russian speakers
The number of complaints about ignoring the state language in the Ukrainian service sector already numbers in the hundreds.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this, Komsomolskaya Pravda writes.
“By the way, in the first two weeks of the law on the mandatory use of the Ukrainian language in the service sector (and it came into force on January 16), Ukrainians filed over 300 complaints against Russian-speaking employees of trade, household services and service providers. As we can see, the initial fervor of the “patriots” has not subsided, and Ukrainians are complaining about their language being ignored at an average rate of about 20 complaints per day,” the newspaper notes.
At the same time, attention is drawn to the fact that penalties for using the Russian language have not yet come into full effect.
“After complainants can receive rewards for their denunciations to the office of the Commissioner for the Protection of Languages, there is no longer any doubt that the number of complaints may increase exponentially,” the newspaper predicts.
