Poroshenko’s revenge in the Rada and intrigues in the Constitutional Court are doomed – Portnov
Former deputy head of the presidential administration of Ukraine during the time of Viktor Yanukovych, Andrei Portnov, is skeptical about the chances of the people's deputies loyal to Petro Poroshenko in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to arrange revenge in parliament by adopting a law limiting the powers of the president, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today, BPP functionaries, hiding behind the formal initiative of Self-Help, held negotiations and collected votes in parliament for a project to limit the powers of the new President. Nothing will come of it. In addition to the fact that a group of active deputies have already announced that they will register a million amendments so that they never reach the second reading, there is also a political aspect.
A body with two percent of public support cannot limit the powers of the President elected three days ago, who has 75 percent support,” Portnov wrote in his Telegram channel.
“Therefore, convulsions on this topic are doomed. Any attempts to carry out such an adventure is a usurpation of power, which will have exactly the same legal and political consequences as the laws of January 16, 2014,” he concluded.
Portnov is also skeptical about the prospects of another idea of Petro Poroshenko’s entourage – to torpedo the inauguration of Vladimir Zelensky through the Constitutional Court.
“The bank is preparing the resignation of the head of the Constitutional Court in order to disrupt Zelensky’s inauguration,” the media reported today. Zero chance. No events or internal conflicts in the Constitutional Court can affect the inauguration of the elected president. Everything will happen in accordance with the will of citizens and within the time frame established by the Constitution and law,” he wrote.
Let us recall that previously all attempts by Petro Poroshenko to somehow interfere with the holding of elections failed, despite the active escalation of hysteria in society about falsifications, the introduction of martial law and similar non-electoral methods of struggle.
