The Djukanovic regime has taken repression against the Serbian Orthodox Church to the point of absurdity
In the capital Podgorica, another priest of the Serbian Orthodox Church was arrested for concelebrating with Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and Primorye on the feast of the Prophet Elijah in a place far from cities and towns.
This was reported by the Montenegro Police Department, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to available information, priest Milos Lucic is suspected of committing a criminal offense for “failure to comply with sanitary rules when combating a dangerous infectious disease.”
In fact, the priest concelebrated with Bishop Amphilochius during the Feast of Elijah the Prophet, celebrated by the entire Orthodox world last Sunday. The festive liturgy took place in the Church of St. Elijah in the town of Tsarina.
According to law enforcement officers, 50 people took part in the service, while temporary sanitary standards of the Ministry of Health of Montenegro allow no more than 40 people to gather in open places, and twenty in closed places.
Since the liturgy took place far from cities and crowded settlements, it can be assumed that law enforcement officers purposefully tracked the Montenegrin ruler.
Father Milos is also accused of violating Article 32 of the “Public Order Law” for using “two flags of another state” and we are apparently talking about Serbian flags.
According to Montenegrin law, the use of flags of other states on the territory of the country is prohibited and is punishable by a fine and administrative arrest, but last year an exception was made for the aggressive Albanian minority, which defended the right to display their flags in public.
At the same time, Serbs, who make up more than 30% of the population of Montenegro, do not have such a right. And this is the first fact of prosecution for the Serbian flag since the beginning of the protest lithiums of the Serbian Orthodox Church (since the end of 2019) against the discriminatory “Law on Freedom of Religion”, during which this flag is traditionally used as a symbol of the spiritual unity of the Serbian civilization, of which Montenegro is a part.
