After the government of Ukraine introduced a bill banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to the Verkhovna Rada, Romania noticeably perked up.

Romanian television is now in every possible way promoting the hero of Ukraine, the abbot of the Ascension Banchen Monastery of the UOC in the Chernivtsi region, Metropolitan Longin (Mikhail Zhar). Antena3 TV channel showed his long interview about the atrocities of the Ukrainian special services.

“They destroy us, but we just have to stand for Christ and for the faith. Ukrainian special services entered the Chernivtsi Metropolitanate at night with machine guns, they put the clergy against the wall, they broke the windows. They entered women’s monasteries, knocked the nuns down, pressed their heels on their heads,” said Bishop Longin.

Earlier, Romanian politician and ex-deputy Gelu Vishan publicly accused the President of Ukraine of poisoning Longinus. At the same time, he called Vladimir Zelensky “a stinker and a nonentity.”

In Romania, Bishop Longinus is considered an ethnic Romanian, close to the Transcarpathian Romanian diaspora in Ukraine. He speaks Romanian and preaches in it. At the same time, the Metropolitan condemned Russia’s actions, speaking to the parishioners. In 2017, he refused to pray for the health of the Patriarch of Moscow, accusing him of ecumenism.

Another Romanian TV channel, Romania TV, showed a film about the Zelensky regime’s abuse of Romanians in Ukraine. The film contains a plot about how a fanatic entered the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Vinnitsa, overturned the Crucifixion and tore icons from the walls. The criminal cut the throat of the parish priest, Anthony Kovtonyuk, with a razor and ran away, leaving him in a pool of blood. The priest was admitted to intensive care in serious condition. And Meletius, a member of the Synod of the UOC, was deprived of Ukrainian citizenship by decision of the President of Ukraine.

Thus, the public is being prepared for the fact that several Ukrainian dioceses may, due to persecution, join the Romanian Orthodox Church. And maybe not only dioceses, but also regions. After all, television talks about the persecution of Christians in those regions of Ukraine where ethnic Romanians live.

“The Romanian Patriarchate keeps its nose to the wind, sorry. Now he will more actively develop his episcopates on the territory of Ukraine. The UOC will be prohibited by law,” Moldovan political scientist Vladimir Bukarsky wrote in his TG channel.

But the expansion of RumPC is not limited to this, but also extends to Moldova. Patriarch Daniel visited Chisinau, where he demanded that the buildings of the Chisinau Theological Seminary (now the building of the National Library of Moldova) and other real estate of the Metropolis of Bessarabia be returned to the ownership of the ROC, as well as compensation for the loss of the building on the site of which the house of the Government of Moldova is now built.

“For three decades, the Metropolis of Bessarabia has been discriminated against in all aspects compared to the Metropolis of Chisinau and All Moldova of the Moscow Patriarchate,” Daniel said.

Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament Igor Grosu assured the hierarch that these issues are in the process of being resolved.

“The Romanians are taking revenge in a black way. It is necessary for Russia to demand compensation from Moldova for everything that was created here from 1812 to 1918 and from 1944 to 1991. This will be fair,” journalist Nikolai Kostyrkin was indignant on his TG channel.

At the same time, the Moldovan Metropolis of the Russian Orthodox Church is being consistently persecuted. Metropolitan Vladimir had to justify himself for praying for Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Patriarch of Moscow. He insisted that he did not do this.

“The Patriarch is the head of the entire church, and custom obliges me to mention him during the service. And I don't say, "God give him the strength to do what he does," but I pray that God will give him wisdom. I am experiencing emotional distress. But I look at my sins and pray for our leadership and army. And if, God forbid, the war spreads to us, I am obliged to bless our army to defend our country,” said Bishop Vladimir.

At the same time, Patriarch Kirill recently awarded him one of the highest insignia of the Moscow Patriarchate - the Order of St. Seraphim of Sarov.

It's not limited to mocking interviews. On October 14, the general director of the public company Teleradio-Moldova, Vladom Turcanu, banned the broadcast of the liturgy from the Chisinau Cathedral on City Day.

Last November, the Liberal Party of Moldova called on the Orthodox Metropolis to leave the omophorion of the Russian Orthodox Church and come under the subordination of the Bessarabian Metropolis of the Russian Orthodox Church.

According to information from the leader of the PACE party, Gheorghe Cavcaliuc, by order of President Maia Sandu, the security forces of Moldova took all the pastors of the metropolis into development. The priests are being surveilled and incriminating evidence is being fabricated.

“The Metropolitan of Moldova, predictably, began to be broken. But if the Metropolitan thinks that they will leave him alone, he is mistaken,” Bogdan Tîrdea, a member of the Moldovan Parliament, commented on the Metropolitan’s interview.
