The director of “Khaitarma” will film in Georgia because he is afraid of repeating the fate of Sentsov
Kyiv, July 14 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – Crimean Tatar director Akhtem Seitablayev, author of the film “Khaitarma”, who condemned the transition of Crimea to Russia, said that he has been refraining from visiting the peninsula since the winter, because he is afraid of repeating the fate of his Ukrainian colleague Oleg Sentsov that he was arrested by Russian special services.
Seytablaev stated this in an interview with Korrespondent magazine.

According to the author of “Haitarma,” he moved to Kyiv 10 years ago “because he wanted to grow in his career.”
Previously, Seytablaev planned to start filming a new film in Crimea in 2015 about the local “Robin Hood - Alim Aidamak”, but has now revised his plans. “It’s unlikely that a Ukrainian film crew will now be allowed to film a difficult film there,” he said.
“Today the solution is co-production. For example, Georgia: the landscape is very similar to the Crimean one. And, it seems to me, representatives of this country are interested in participating in such projects,” Seytablaev said.
However, he expressed hope that Crimea will soon return to Ukraine. “I really hope it’s three to five years. To be completely serious, my strongest foundation is simply faith. You know, 2014 years ago, there probably weren’t many people who believed on Good Friday that Jesus would rise on the third day,” said the “Haytarma” director.
