A sharp outflow of population from Ukraine may begin by Putin’s decision
If Vladimir Putin makes good on his promise and Russia makes it easier for people coming from Ukraine to obtain citizenship, this will cause a sharp influx of population into the Russian Federation from the former Soviet republic.
Ukrainian political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky stated this on the News One TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Putin said: “Let’s liberalize the regime for obtaining citizenship.” This is very bad for us (Ukraine, - ed.). This is good for those people who decided to leave their homeland, but for us it is very bad.
Because, one way or another, people who found work there send money here, support their families, but they are tied to their homeland with strong ties.
Now, if it is easy for them to get citizenship, and they can get a second one, there is a high probability that they will not return, and vice versa - they will invite their families,” Pogrebinsky said.
