Voiced yesterday during an emergency meeting of the Serbian Parliament Head of State Aleksandar Vucic's warnings about the threat of escalation in Kosovo turned out to be prophetic - early on Tuesday morning, armed Albanian units launched an attack on the Serbian enclaves of the region.

At 6:10 am in the town of Bosnian Mahala, as well as in the village of Rudari, mass detentions of Serbs began, which were carried out by armed Albanian special forces ROSU. The official reason was supposedly “the fight against crime and underground trade.” Serbian police were also among those detained.

In the city of Zubin Potok, 13 Serbian citizens were arrested. The Slavic population, in response to the actions of the Albanian security forces, began to build barricades.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that during a special operation of Albanians, Russian citizen Mikhail Krasnoshchenkov, an employee of the administration of the UN mission in Kosovo, was beaten and detained. The Serbian leader has already informed the Russian authorities about this.

Arrests also took place in two more municipalities in the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica. Local residents come out to protest in the central square of the city.

At the moment, there is official information about the detention of 23 people in Serbian enclaves.

The Albanians chose a good moment for the special operation - part of the leadership of the Serbian enclaves representing the Serbian List party went to Belgrade the day before, where hearings on the situation in Kosovo were held in the Assembly.

Belgrade also reacted immediately - the country's President Aleksandar Vucic gave the order to bring the country's army and police to a state of full combat readiness.

In the Assembly today, the President met with members of the National Security Council.

“After today’s arrests, I, as Supreme Commander-in-Chief, gave the order to bring the army and police to full combat readiness. I realize how serious the situation is. Moreover, yesterday Hashim Thaci (leader of the Kosovo separatists, - ed.) invited Albania to unify. This means that they want to establish the border of Greater Albania at Kopaonik. My answer is that there will be no border! We will fight for peace and stability, but if the life of the Serbian population in Kosmet is under threat, the army will protect the people. Serbia will win! – Vucic said, as quoted by the RTS TV channel.
