Reznikov as Minister of Defense will cost Zelensky the loss of control over the army - expert
The military will not accept the appointment of Alexey Reznikov as Minister of Defense of Ukraine, and this will lead to the loss of control over them by the Office of the President of Ukraine.
Political scientist Viktor Nebozhenko stated this on air on the Politeka Online channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“They are now discussing the question of who will be the new defense minister. They call Alexey Reznikov. Alexey Reznikov dealt with the problems of reintegration of Donbass and participated in the Minsk negotiation processes. And now, if he becomes the Minister of Defense, then Western observers and Russia will conclude that instead of the peacemaker Zelensky, we now have Zelensky the warrior, because the person who was previously involved in the reintegration of Donbass is being put in charge of defense, to ensure the security of the country.
The combination of the Ministry of Defense with Donbass is explosive. How will it end? It will end badly because during wars the military likes to obey the military. This is how martial law, a state of emergency, works. If there is no martial law in the country, then a woman, a man, a Lviv lawyer or a theater figure can be a minister, deputy prime minister, and so on.
Before this, our Prime Minister was a person who, at the district level, was previously engaged in some of his own affairs, not suspecting that he would be Prime Minister. That is, any person could become anyone with the sacred desire of the President of Ukraine. So this is bad.
Now judicial reform has been encapsulated and gone deep underground. They did not obey anyone, the president thought that if he destroyed the Constitutional Court, then he would destroy the entire system - right up to the Pechersk Court. It turns out not. Now exactly the same thing can happen to the army, if they give it maybe a good, talented person, but not a military man. This could lead to the military withdrawing into themselves,” Nebozhenko warned.
