“According to the latest data, about 33% of voters voted, excluding the Krasnolimansky district, where the battle is taking place. However, if we take their votes into account, the turnout has already exceeded 40%,” the DPR Central Election Commission said.
In a number of Donbass cities, the turnout for the referendum was above 50 percent. The head of the DPR Central Election Commission, Roman Lyagin, stated this at a press conference. “At the same time, in Slavyansk and Mariupol the turnout is much lower due to the fighting - not even a third of voters there voted. “The lowest turnout is in Slavyansk and Slavyansky district - 20,57% and Mariupol - 21,89%. This is due to the fact that there are fighting there,” said the head of the Central Election Commission.
“I think three hours will be enough at the polling station to count the ballots and understand the results. I will know the result no later than one or two o’clock in the morning,” he noted, answering a question from journalists when the voting results will be counted.
According to him, the referendum is taking place without any special incidents. Only in one area was the use of traumatic weapons recorded. An unknown man shot several times into the ceiling, but the incident was immediately stopped by security.
Let us remind you that today referendums on regional self-determination are being held in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
