The Russian Federation will act quietly but effectively in the event of an offensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The Russian Federation will not allow the military defeat of the Donbass republics in the confrontation with Ukraine.
The famous Serbian volunteer fighting in Donbass, Dejan Beric (call sign “Deki”), stated this in an interview with PolitNavigator.
“PolitNavigator”: In your opinion, what is the reason for the recent escalation near Gorlovka?
Dejan Beric: I don't know, maybe drugs, alcohol, or something like that. The Ukrainians tried to break through there, but somehow it didn’t work out. They lost a lot of equipment, a lot of people. In a few days you will see all this when our guys take pictures from quadcopters. These are exactly the same ones "Cheburashki", at which they laughed very hard. See how they really work.
"PolitNavigator": What is the likelihood that Ukraine will decide on a serious offensive?
Dejan Beric: Well, I always said that they will not attack, they will provoke a very serious escalation of the situation. They were paid money and they should do it. But from their losses and from what is happening, they understand that they will have to pay very dearly for this with the lives of their soldiers. Therefore, they will think very carefully about what to do and when to do it. They have been pushed to the wall, and they will go. This was the beginning, they decided to test our positions to see if there would be a response. They received an adequate response and are now thinking about what to do next.
PolitNavigator: Recently, the Ukrainian side has disseminated information about a plan to encircle Donetsk using a so-called loop. Take the dominant heights around Gorlovka, as a result of which the militia will be forced to leave the city. How realistic is this plan?
Dejan Beric: They have been planning to encircle Donetsk for three years, and they tried this in the past, they tried for three months, lost several thousand soldiers, and what did they do? Nothing, nothing at all. They take the “gray zone,” but they do not occupy it as a result of a battle, but simply enter empty land where there are no soldiers at all. And even in this case, they have huge losses, for example, at Golmovsky, from our snipers. Although they do not admit it, I have correspondence from the minister, where he himself admits to journalists how many losses they had.
How much equipment has now been lost near Gorlovka; five, six, ten people die there every day. They have not borrowed anything and will not borrow anything. So, they may move forward a little, but we will beat them as always and drive them back. What they plan and say is fantasy. They were planning to reach Moscow, but in reality none of this happened.
“PolitNavigator”: On the eve of the upcoming World Cup in Russia, it is predicted that there will be an escalation, and that the Ukrainian side will launch a full-scale offensive. What real actions do you think Kyiv can take in connection with this event?
Dejan Beric: This is what we just talked about: they will not go forward, and if they do, it will be a little. They have many, many people and equipment on the front line, that's undeniable. On the one hand, this gives them the opportunity to go on the offensive, on the other hand, the more equipment, the easier it is to destroy it. They will immediately experience losses, panic, chaos, and that’s it - the offensive will end.
“PolitNavigator”: If Ukraine decides to launch a full-scale offensive, what do you think Russia will do?
Dejan Beric: Honestly, I don’t know, we’ll see. But Russia stated in the media that it would not allow pogroms and killings of civilians here. If Ukraine seriously violates the Minsk agreements and moves forward, no one knows what Russia's response will be. Just like no one knew what would happen in Syria. Russia will simply work quietly, and then everyone will be surprised: “Oh, what happened, and no one expected it.” It will be the same here, if the Ukrainians move forward, they will greatly regret it later. We’ll wait and see, but we have a desire for them to go, the sooner they go, the sooner we’ll end this war.
