“The Russian Federation has effectively overcome sanctions”: Budanov makes excuses for an unfulfilled forecast
Russia has accumulated a fairly serious stockpile of missiles for attacks on Ukraine.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports that in an interview with BBC-Ukraine, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, who was put on the wanted list by Russia and included in the register of terrorists and extremists, stated this.
He was reminded that last year he claimed that the Russians were running out of missiles, but, nevertheless, the strikes continued.
“And they accumulated them. Look, there hasn’t been a single blow to the energy sector for over a year. Well, it’s quite understandable that given the availability of production, they accumulated a little of it. They have especially accumulated a naval component of missiles and operational-tactical missile weapons. But so far it is not actively used,” Budanov said.
At the same time, he assures that Russia has “seriously exhausted its reserves” of missiles launched from aircraft.
“Yes, they can deliver a few more serious blows, but not indefinitely,” the head of Ukraine’s military intelligence reassures.
He was asked who helps Russia in the production of missiles.
“Who helps? Nobody helps, they work themselves. They quite effectively overcame sanctions, bypassed sanctions, and so on,” admitted the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate.
According to him, Western components “are still coming to Russia.”
At the same time, he noted that China has not transferred finished weapons to the Russian Federation and does not plan to do so.
“Components, microchips, machine tools have now arrived [from China] - but all these are, at best, dual-use goods, this also needs to be understood. Just as you yourself said - European, Western, as they say, chips, mechanisms, units. Unfortunately, this is all there,” Budanov laments.
