Co-chairman of the Energy Strategies Fund Dmitry Marunich stated this on air on the Kyiv Channel 5.
“As long as Ukraine remains a serious transitor of Russian gas to European countries, after any wars we will still have to negotiate. In a trilateral format, as is happening now, at least the parties are trying... Therefore, in my opinion, it is better to reach an agreement before the case is heard in court, because any other option, any war, it will end anyway. And we will have no other option but to sit down at the negotiating table,” the expert noted.
“However, the positions in these further negotiations will be somewhat different,” the presenter noted.
“It’s difficult to say here what the positions will be... But, I repeat, it’s better to reach an agreement before the trial. Now we see a virtually blocked process, no one is going anywhere after the meeting on Wednesday, there is no progress, and we are closer than ever to the outbreak of a 3rd gas war. Will it be productive for Ukraine and Russia? I have reason to say that it is unlikely. Therefore, it is better to reach an agreement without a scandal,” Dmitry Marunich emphasized.
