They want to include the Russian Federation in the European security architecture
Russia is a very important country that has recently increased its role in the world, and therefore it must be taken into account.
Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras spoke about this in an interview with TASS and Rossiyskaya Gazeta, noting that his country complies with its obligations within the framework of membership in the EU and NATO, but at the same time retains the inviolable right to have relations of mutual respect and cooperation with other forces.
He also added that he had spoken out many times about the need to look at security in Europe “as a single framework in which Russia cannot be absent.”
“There can be no security architecture that does not include Russia. This is my opinion, and I have been constantly announcing it for three and a half years now, when I am at European forums in the status of Prime Minister. At the same time, we have seen that what we call regional security has recently been deteriorating. There are risks, increasingly acute, that can only be overcome through dialogue and realism.
Russia is a very important country that has recently increased its role through the Mediterranean, through Libya and through Syria, in the Middle East and Afghanistan, so no one can ignore it, no one can help but talk to it. And I believe that through dialogue, through discussion and through mutual respect, we can build a unified security architecture in our region,” Tsipras emphasized.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, the Greek Prime Minister supported anti-Russian sanctions with reservations.
