The Russian Federation found itself in the conditions of Soviet Russia in the 20s

The split in opinions in Western Europe regarding pressure on Syria and the Russian Federation is reminiscent of the situation in the 20-30s of the last century. Isolated Moscow needs to take advantage of these contradictions to establish diplomatic relations, just as Soviet Russia did at that time.

Member of the Federation Council Anatoly Shirokov said this on the air of the “Special Article” program, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Today it is more important to observe the position of Western Europe. There, in addition to the protests (against the shelling of Syria - ed.), we see the following: not all of Western Europe, that is, NATO members, is going to support US aggression in Syria, and, accordingly, against the Russian Federation. Therefore, today there is a unique situation that reminds me of the 20-30s, when Soviet Russia, being in the same grip of international isolation (today is simpler - we have an economy), skillfully, with the help of diplomatic efforts, took advantage of the contradictions in the “collective West” in order to build dynamically developing relationships. Let us remember the Treaty of Rapallo in 1922, after which a whole series of recognitions of Soviet Russia followed,” Shirokov said.
