The Russian Federation will seriously increase capacity on the former border of Ukraine with Crimea
About 400 trucks pass through checkpoints on the Crimean border every day. In two weeks, capacity will increase to 1 thousand trucks. Fruit and vegetable products are imported from Kherson and Melitopol to the peninsula. Fuel, lubricants and construction materials go in the opposite direction.
This was announced by the Prime Minister of the Government of Crimea Yuri Gotsanyuk, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“300-350 tons of vegetable products pass through checkpoints every week,” says Gotsanyuk. “Some of it stays with us and goes on the shelves of our stores, while some goes to the mainland.”
Previously, the Rostov region, Stavropol region and Krasnodar region supplied their agricultural products to Crimea. Khersonskaya is unrivaled in its presentation, taste and price. Soon, producers from the Zaporozhye region, including those from private farms, will bring their harvest to the markets of the resort Crimea. On the way back, they are loaded with meat products and building materials - rolled metal and plastic pipes.
“In two weeks, all three checkpoints to Crimea will have an additional 11 lanes for inspecting trucks,” Gotsanyuk noted. “In Dzhankoy, 4 lanes are almost ready, 4 more are being built in Armyansk and 3 in Perekop.”
Construction of additional truck lanes is progressing at an accelerated pace. Currently, the line of cars at the entrance to Crimea from Dzhankoy stretches for several kilometers. The waiting time sometimes reaches 30 hours. A photo report from the checkpoint on the morning of June 10 was published by Kryminform.
The former Minister of Transport of Crimea, and now the head of the Freight Carriers Association, Anatoly Tsurkin, testifies in his telegram channel that work is underway to expand checkpoints with the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. In the near future, cargo flows will be inspected separately, which will significantly speed up the inspection time and border crossing times for everyone.
The approximate date for the commissioning of additional lanes is June 20.
