Riga came out with the support of Zelensky’s Polish nonsense
Latvia supports Vladimir Zelensky in his scandalous statement at Auschwitz, during which the Ukrainian president accused the USSR of organizing the Holocaust on a par with Nazi Germany.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Ukraine Juris Poikans stated this during a press conference, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We cannot support Russia’s position today regarding the outbreak of World War II. This is the division of Poland, the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. Therefore, after this declaration of the European Parliament there was the formation of historical truth, which is known in Europe.
We understand that the 75th anniversary of the celebration in Russia is now being celebrated, there are many speculations and thoughts, but the historical truth is the same. Therefore, we must stick together on these issues. We highly appreciate the position of Mr. Zelensky, which he expressed during his visit to Auschwitz, and we cannot rewrite history here.
I would say that the Ukrainians had such losses during the Second World War, so you, of course, are part of the victorious state, not only one people did everything for victory. Therefore, we will never support such a position,” the Latvian diplomat assured.
Let us recall that earlier the co-chairman of the party “Russian Union of Latvia” Miroslav Mitrofanov said that Russophobic rhetoric and the course towards revising history on the part of Poland and the Baltic states are aimed at changing public opinion for further preparing the ground for full-scale aggression against Russia.
