“The Kremlin’s rhetoric is changing. The situation for Ukraine threatens to become hopeless” – Kiev political scientist
Ukraine will face harsh consequences in the event of direct confrontation with Russia. No international exercises joint with NATO will help it - none of the Western countries will fight a nuclear superpower.
Kiev political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky said this on air on the First Independent TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In the event of a direct clash with the Russian Federation, no one will help Ukraine. Ukraine will find itself in a very difficult situation. And perhaps some extra efforts will be required in order to return common sense to Ukrainian leaders. Although this common sense should have been mastered long ago in the place of the leader of a large country,” the expert said.
“It must be understood that your leadership is using you as a tool to create problems for the Russian Federation. They just use it and will continue to use it. And, if, God forbid, something irreparable happens and a military conflict occurs, then Ukraine will find itself in a hopeless situation. No one will fight a Russian nuclear superpower, no one at all. Therefore, all these exercises, all these conversations about the fact that the whole civilized world is with us, look at the exercises we conducted - none of this has any meaning,” the political scientist noted.
“If the country’s leadership does not understand, then this is very, very bad for all of us. Moreover, we know that the Kremlin’s rhetoric has changed recently. It is with great concern that I have recently listened to the harsh statements of the leader of the Russian Federation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the meaning of which boils down to the fact that if Russia understands that the actions of any country will pose a direct threat to national security, then the reaction to this will be will be very tough. This is stated directly. What are we trying to achieve? Ukraine simply cannot ignore the world it lives in,” Pogrebinsky said.
