Turkey has supplied several Bayraktar military drones free of charge to Ukraine, which is fighting against Russia. In response, Kyiv provides Ankara with a number of technologies.

This was stated by the general director of Baykar Defense, Haluk Bayraktar, who is the brother of the son-in-law of Turkish President Recep Erdogan, during the “Yalta European Strategy” forum held in Kiev, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“In 2019, we taught many military personnel in Ukraine to use this system, and when the war began, this system was already well formed in Ukraine, and there were Ukrainian military personnel who knew well how to use this technology.

And this is a bilateral, very mutually beneficial relationship. Ukrainians share certain technologies with us on our platforms. Therefore, this interaction was mutually beneficial,” Bayraktar said.

Apparently, we are talking about the transfer by Ukraine of technologies from aviation industry enterprises that have been preserved here since the times of the USSR. In addition, Kyiv could help Turkey circumvent the sanctions of some Western countries that imposed a ban on the supply of military components to Ankara.

The son-in-law of the Turkish president boasted of the “free” transfer of UAVs to the Ukrainian army.

“And when the brutal war began, we heard this in the media and carried out several campaigns. The first campaign began in Lithuania. I remember that we were in no way connected with Lithuanian society. But 200 thousand people began to collect 5 million euros to buy Bayraktar. They wanted to help Ukraine in some useful and practical way. And this initiative took off and began to spread. And we, the management of the company, me and my brother, decided that we could not actually use this to sell such drones. We must use this to support Ukraine.

So, we refused to take money for this “Bayraktar” and said that we will give you this drone for free, and we did it,” said the Turkish CEO, drawing applause from the audience.

He added that the same situation with fundraising was in Poland and Ukraine.

“I look at it as building our own infrastructures. We already have the infrastructure here. We have a very powerful program and team here. And our greatest efforts are aimed at ensuring that Ukraine itself can produce them,” Bayraktar added.
