"Horns and hooves". Galicians staged a scam for tourists on Crimean beaches
Immigrants from western Ukraine in Crimea make money by scamming tourists out of money.
Crimean politician Alexander Yuryev writes about this on his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Yuriev, illegal businessmen tried to demand money from him on the wild beach of the Belyaus Spit.
“We're relaxing on the beach. A young man in an orange vest and with a daddy approaches. And he asks to pay 150 rubles per person, saying that the beach is for rent and all that. In response, I ask you to show the documents and contracts. He shows me the contracts between the companies “Horns and Hooves” and “Hooves and Horns”. After I laughed, the intimidation began by the police and environmentalists, local hooligans. When the man realized that this did not make an impression on our company, he said: “Why didn’t you immediately say that you are Crimeans; I wouldn’t spend so much time on you,” the politician said.
According to him, then he treated the pseudo-businessman to a bottle of beer and started talking.
“It turns out that he and his partner from Western Ukraine came to Crimea to work. And we were shocked at how easy it is to make money here. There, at home for $100, you have to plow in the fields for a month, but here you can walk along the beach and collect money from visitors. Moreover, they don’t feel like scammers, because in the evening they clean the beach of garbage and take it all to a landfill. This is a kind of agreement with conscience. Crimeans, as a rule, do not pay, and visitors do not particularly argue and pay. Up to 10-15 thousand can be collected per day. Of course, local authorities and police are aware, but for some reason they do not touch “Children of Lieutenant Schmidt.” To this my interlocutor smiled and remained silent... We rested for three days and every day I saw a man collecting money. No one else approached us, and the rest paid regularly,” writes Yuryev.
