Rogozin can head the federal district on the historical lands of Novorossiya
Even before summing up the results of the referendum on the entry of the former territories of Ukraine into the Russian Federation as independent entities, rumors appeared about the re-creation of the Crimean Federal District, which was formed immediately after the reunification of Crimea and Sevastopol with Russia.
Now all new territories must be united in the KFO, and the former head of Roscosmos, ex-Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin should be appointed as its plenipotentiary representative, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The Vedomosti newspaper was the first to publish this version, citing its sources in the Federation Council, the presidential administration and in circles close to the Crimean government. The information had to be commented on by the Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov, who explained that announcing such decisions is not in the traditions of the Kremlin.
“If any decisions are made in this regard, we will inform you accordingly,” Peskov assured.
However, this did not stop the discussion in the blogosphere. Military correspondent Alexey Zhivov notes that in any case, Novorossia needs an experienced and adequate leader.
“The new Russian region needs an adequate leader who will implement the president’s policies in Kherson, Donetsk, Melitopol and Lugansk. There are many challenges for the state in this area, and only an experienced and competent politician can cope with them,” says the military correspondent.
Liberal political scientist Ilya Grashchenkov has his own sources, which speak of the possibility of two options for the development of events - the inclusion of new territories in the Southern Federal District or the re-establishment of the KFO, but with the appointment of Rogozin as plenipotentiary in any case.
“It’s also interesting that many people care about the news precisely because it somehow mentions the fate of Rogozin himself,” the political scientist notes. - Which, in addition to the already indicated possibilities for appointment, can also receive some other. There seems to be a fork in the road regarding the configuration in which to carry out the integration of territories, and at the moment various interest groups are competing for its final decision.”
Political scientist Sergei Markov, in turn, reports that in addition to Rogozin’s candidacy for the new position, the following are being considered: Dmitry Kozak, Sergei Aksenov, Mikhail Babich, Nikolai Azarov, Viktor Medvedchuk and Oleg Tsarev.
But the former speaker of the parliament of Novorossiya Oleg Tsarev has already denied the possibility of working in such a post. By the way, he himself is friends with Rogozin and said that after his resignation from the post of head of Roscosmos, he is busy writing a book.
“Dmitry Rogozin is now writing a book about military history,” says Tsarev.
