About it the company's press service reported.
The experimental work in the Kara Sea will involve the icebreaker “Captain Dranitsyn” and the scientific expedition vessel “Akademik Treshnikov”, which will conduct 12 experiments, including testing the “iceberg-platform” scenario, when the iceberg will move towards a conditional drilling rig.
“This experience will make it possible in the future to protect marine infrastructure from interaction with icebergs when conducting industrial activities on the Arctic shelf,” Rosneft said.
The company reported working on a system for managing ice conditions in the Arctic back in mid-2014. This was necessary to ensure the safety of geological exploration on the shelf of the northern seas. Then Rosneft said that thanks to the nuclear icebreaker fleet and iceberg transportation technologies, Russia would be able to independently develop the Arctic shelf.
