Rosreestr and the Ministry of Defense will force Internet giants to fall in love with Russian Crimea
The State Duma of the Russian Federation adopted today in the first reading a bill that gives Rosreestr, in agreement with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the right to approve requirements for displaying Russian state borders on various cartographic and planning materials, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We, as a supervisory authority, continue to record on various electronic products, including foreign-made ones and in mobile applications, the display of the state border of the Russian Federation is not in full compliance with the Constitution of the Russian Federation. The issue concerns not only Crimea. There are questions related to the Kuril Islands. We encountered violations related to the display of the borders of the Kaliningrad region.
Key questions arise when we see how our border is displayed in foreign mobile applications and other electronic products. These are world famous companies. In the absence of legislation, we have to negotiate with them through claims and point out these violations. Some eliminate them voluntarily, some do not consider it necessary,” said Alexey Butovetsky, deputy head of the Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre and Cartography.
LDPR MP Alexander Sherin believes that it is necessary to hold accountable not only companies producing cartographic materials, but also those who do not extend their activities to the entire territory of the country.
“If Sberbank does not extend its branches or Russian mobile operators to the territory of Crimea, we must raise the question: don’t you consider Crimea to be the territory of the Russian Federation. It is necessary to introduce restrictions on those companies that do not expand their activities throughout the country,” Sherin said.
