Russia needs a station in Cuba, but only a cheap one
The resumption of the US embargo against Cuba should not become a clear reason for Russia to establish military bases and other facilities on Liberty Island. Political scientist Said Gafurov stated this on the Pravdavideo Internet channel.

“The question is not whether this radio monitoring station is needed, but how much it will cost. Is it a priority to set up a station? Or is it more important to make fighters and bombers? If it’s cheap, we need to build it, and if it’s expensive, then it’s better to create instead what our president says that we have an answer (albeit rough) to NATO, which is deploying its forces on our borders,” Gafurov said.
He also does not believe that Russia is building relations with the countries of South America in order to place its missiles there, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We support Venezuela not because we want to put missiles there, but because the Venezuelan people, like everyone else on this planet, have the right to decide their own destiny. We are not preparing for war with America. We must have such a grouping of strategic forces so that the Americans would not be able to attack us, so that they would have unacceptable losses. There is no point in invading the United States,” Gafurov said.
