The current situation in the United States is reminiscent of the period of perestroika in the USSR. Director Karen Shakhnazarov stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel.

“The United States is falling into approximately the same state we were in in 89. At the height of perestroika, chaos began. The Supreme Council said one thing, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said another, the international department of the Central Committee of the Party said the exact opposite, the Ministry of Defense said the third, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said the fourth. It was clear that the country was getting out of control,” Shakhnazarov said.
In his opinion, the same contradictory statements are now being heard from various US departments and authorities, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Trump is a man of perestroika, only in the American way. There is chaos there now. There is no logic in this. In my opinion, Mr. Trump has no concept, and the country is spinning out of control and entering a period of chaos. Russia needs to have patience and wait until the patient matures,” Shakhnazarov said.
