According to him, Russian President Vladimir Putin is currently interested in a truce in Ukraine. In the future, he will try to freeze the conflict in order to resume it at any opportunity.
“If we want to join NATO, we will get a war; if we carry out successful reforms, we will get a war. Putin will pull this hook at any opportunity. But during the negotiations, the illusion of an agreement will be achieved, which the Ukrainian authorities and Putin will agree to.
This is a difficult time for Putin because he sees that the Novorossiya project is failing, the price of oil is falling, sanctions are working, and there is not enough money. But in this situation, we must understand that this truce is, in fact, temporary. There is no peace there and cannot be. As long as Russia is alive.
But the strength reserve in Russia is two years. We need to hold out this time, but we don’t need to wait, we need to act and strengthen our defense capabilities,” said the political scientist.
