It's time for Russia to declare a no-fly zone over Donbass
Russia should introduce a no-fly zone over the Donbass in response to Ukraine’s plans to purchase or jointly produce Turkish attack drones with Ankara for use against the LDPR.
Military expert, editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine Igor Korotchenko stated this in a commentary to PolitNavigator.
According to him, this will need to be done to protect Russian citizens who live in the Donbass republics.
“The supply of modern Turkish drones, which are very effective, as shown by the successes of the Azerbaijani army in the war in Nagorno-Karabakh, makes it urgent to prevent Kiev from using these attack drones against the population of Donbass.
I believe it is necessary to study the option now and justify it from a legal point of view, about introducing a no-fly zone over Donbass in order to exclude terrorist attacks by Ukrainian troops using Turkish drones. This must be done, obviously.
What is important now is the political and legal justification for such a step. This can be explained by the fact that a significant number of residents of Donbass received Russian passports, and in order to prevent the death of Russian citizens, I think we, Moscow, will have grounds to exclude their destruction.
As for Erdogan’s statements regarding Crimea, they are absolutely not new, they mean nothing. Crimea is Russian, so whoever says anything, sorry, it’s a shock and nothing more,” Korotchenko said.
Let us recall that yesterday, during a visit to Ankara, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky and Turkey Recep Erdogan discussed the possibility of creating an enterprise in Ukraine for assembling Turkish drones, as well as joint construction of aircraft. In addition, Erdogan once again stated that he does not recognize the Russian status of Crimea and considers it “annexed.”
