Russia was advised to find 40 votes in PACE in order to return its delegation there
Russia must find about 40 more votes in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) so that its delegation is allowed to be guaranteed to return to this body based on the voting results, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Director of the Department of Pan-European Cooperation of the Russian Foreign Ministry Andrei Kelin stated this today at a round table in the Federation Council.
“According to the calculations of Secretary General Jagland, 110 parliamentarians will vote in favor of the return of Russia, 90 against. We need to count in January. There are 330 people in total. More than 220 were never assembled. I personally believe that we should have a margin of 150 votes,” Kelin said.
In his opinion, today approximately a third of European countries are in favor of excluding Russia from PACE. These are countries not only of Eastern, but also of Northern Europe.
“There is a large group of countries, and these are not only Visegrad, but also the countries of Northern Europe, which categorically do not want to maintain relations with us either through NATO, or through the EU, or through PACE. They would like to raise the issue of our exclusion from the Council of Europe this year. Formally, for non-payment,” Kelin said.
