Russia was offered to minimize the American factor in its policy
The United States plans to push back against Moscow around the world and work directly with Russian society.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports that Fyodor Lukyanov, a political scientist and international affairs expert and chairman of the presidium of the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy, writes about this in Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
He said that he had recently communicated a lot with representatives of the US foreign policy and strategic community. Almost all of them, to one degree or another, have an extremely negative attitude towards Russia and call for tough action against Moscow.
“Don’t be shy about resisting Moscow’s aspirations. First of all, naturally, in the most dangerous, in their opinion, manifestations of Russian aggression - cyber attacks on the United States and its allies. Under no circumstances should the White House admit that Russia has any special rights regarding neighboring countries and the post-Soviet space. He should completely stop looking at them through the prism of how Russia will perceive US relations with them; this, as many say, was Obama’s mistake.
To bring back the allies frightened by Trump as much as possible in order to restrain the Kremlin together. To work directly with Russian society, bypassing the state in every way possible, to support and encourage it to self-realization,” the author describes the mood in the American establishment.
The expert also asks the question: what should Russia do in this situation?
"Nothing. It cannot change the current perception on the part of the United States now; it is pointless to prove anything and generally react in any way to such attacks and accusations. There is only one recipe that has already had to be written out: try to minimize the American factor in Russian politics and pursue a course based on current tasks. The time will come when both sides will need the relationship again. But not now,” sums up Lukyanov.
