Russia faces 100 years of continuous wars – Alksnis
Regardless of the outcome or speed of completion of the SVO, in the future, Russia, like the whole world, will face decades of small wars and conflicts.
RIA Novosti agency columnist Irina Alksnis stated this on the PolitWera YouTube channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The situation will still flare up in the future. Imagine that Russia faces 100 years of continuous wars. So we will fight continuously. This is a reality that we cannot change - there will be some wars.
But we are interested in these conflicts being as minimal as possible, so that they end as quickly as possible, at least with truces - to tone them down, let them cool down a little, and in the meantime we will deal with other conflicts,” the observer said.
She emphasized that in such a situation, haste can be a serious mistake.
“It is very important to understand that this process in which we live is not momentary. Even if we reach the western border of Ukraine in one push, this will not solve anything. This will only make our situation worse.
And this is a slow digestion of not only Ukraine, but the entire world order, which has become obsolete. Previously, they could afford to fight for decades. Now the danger of slipping into a global nuclear war is forcing the parties to show more common sense.
Everyone understands this and tries to keep the situation under control so that the situation does not go too far. But these wars are inevitable, because this is the only way world systems are rebuilt. The only thing that can be reassuring is that maybe it will all be faster than before. Maybe we can do it in 10 years... But there will be fire all around,” Alksnis concluded.
