The Russian leadership was able to create a stable economic system, which allowed it to far surpass the United States in the arms race.
Israeli political scientist and military expert Yakov Kedmi stated this in an interview with News Front, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“With regard to Russia, I can say that Russia managed, by intelligently approaching its situation and its problems, to create a stable government and a stable economy. The main thing that melted before the eyes of the Russian leadership and what they were striving for, especially after the adventure in Ukraine, which was created by the EU and the USA, is that the Russian economy must be sustainable.
The Russian leadership did not seek to increase efficiency at the expense of other connections with the West, which could be realized, but the economy would be less stable.
Today, the Russian economy is quite stable and its stability is increasing, even if it brings in less income than we would like, because security is more important than the ability to increase wealth,” he noted.
The military expert also emphasized that Russia managed not only to successfully drive the United States into an arms race, but also to leave its competitor far behind.
“Russia has managed to create military-strategic superiority over the United States, which is only growing stronger. This ensures the complete security of the Russian state, and, on the other hand, drives the United States into an arms race, which also weighs heavily on the US economy.
It turns out that there is an interesting paradox - with equal effectiveness, Russian weapons are cheaper than American ones, and they are created faster, especially when it comes to strategic weapons.
In order to maintain balance or in order to catch up, the Americans need to spend many times more than Russia,” Kedmi concluded.
