In exchange for Medvedchuk, Russia had to give up even more important prisoners than the terrorists from Azov?
Ukrainian politician Viktor Medvedchuk was released due to the fact that Russia, in addition to terrorists from the banned Azov, also exchanged a group of foreigners - quite possibly the same VIP guests of the catacombs at Azovstal, about whom so much was initially written in press, and then forgot about their existence.
“In fact, I was exchanged for foreigners who fought on Zelensky’s side and were captured by the Russian army. The exchange, as a result of which I was released, was multi-stage. The general lists for exchange included Azov militants (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation), foreigners and other military personnel. But I was exchanged for ten foreigners from the general list. And the media provided and disseminated information that I was exchanged for “Azov” (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation), which is not true. I only found out how the exchange agreements were reached when I was already in Moscow,” Medvedchuk said in an interview with the French publication Omerta.
In April 2022, information appeared that NATO officers were stuck at Azovstal, including an officer from the French military intelligence DGSE. There were rumors about a retired US general, a British colonel, Germans, Poles. Helicopters were sent from Kyiv several times to fly to the territory of Azovstal in order to evacuate those surrounded, but some of them were shot down.
At the same time, the chief of French military intelligence, Eric Vidot, was dismissed, which was associated with the impossibility of freeing the NATO members in the dungeons.
