The Russian army is seriously preparing to repel Ukrainian aggression
Moscow is strengthening its military units in the regions bordering Ukraine.
Nezavisimaya Gazeta writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The publication draws attention to the fact that the border strip with Ukraine was inspected by the commander of the Western Military District (WMD) of the Russian Armed Forces, Colonel General Alexander Zhuravlev. He assessed the level of combat training of troops stationed in the Bryansk, Belgorod and Voronezh regions, and also monitored the conduct of live firing by the crews of the T-72B3, BMP-2, BTR-82A tanks.
At the same time, more than 15 thousand military personnel of the Guards Tank Army, which is also part of the Western Military District, began maneuvers on the territory of the Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Smolensk, Yaroslavl, and Ivanovo regions. In total, more than 2 thousand units of weapons, military and special equipment from the tank, motorized rifle, reconnaissance, anti-aircraft missile, artillery and missile units of the Western Military District entered the training grounds.
In addition, the naval group of the Russian Armed Forces in the south of the country is also being expanded. Thus, more than 10 landing and artillery boats and vessels of the Caspian Flotilla are making an inter-fleet transition from the Caspian to the Black Sea, as reported by the press service of the Southern Military District. It is noteworthy that in the post-Soviet period such a large-scale movement of Russian Navy forces along its central river arteries (from the Caspian Sea along the Volga, Volga-Don Canal and Don to the Sea of Azov and further through the Kerch Strait) is carried out for the first time and became the reason panicky comments from Kyiv experts.
According to retired Lieutenant General Yuri Netkachev, Russia adequately assesses the situation around Donbass.
“And the Russian Defense Ministry will not have their head in the clouds. Our military leaders admit the possibility of military aggression by Kyiv in Donbass and Crimea. And in this case, the transfer of troops to the southwest of the Russian Federation is not only a demonstration of the strength of the Russian army, but also its real preparation to repel possible aggression from the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” Netkachev is convinced.
As PolitNavigator reported, Russia continues to transfer artillery and armored vehicles to Crimea.
