The Russian army is about to launch an offensive on Kharkov – Khairullin
After the liberation of Artyomovsk, the Russian command is going to launch a large-scale operation to encircle Kharkov.
War correspondent Marat Khairullin stated this on the PolitWera Internet channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The plan [of the Russian command in the Northern Military District zone] is clear - to take the main transport arteries in order to slowly launch an attack on Kharkov. The issue of starting the campaign to encircle Kharkov is our main task. This is a huge multi-stage operation as we prepare to take Kharkov.
In general, the capture of Kharkov is the key to the rest of Ukraine. This instantly leaves the entire northern group of Ukraine without support, and plus it is a direct road to the Dnieper. And the Kharkov-Dnepr link is already a matter of winning the war,” Khairullin said.
He emphasized that the capture of Kharkov will greatly help push the Ukrainian Armed Forces to the other side of the Dnieper.
“There is a narrative at the front that we must build some kind of cordon sanitaire along the Dnieper. And taking the Dnieper means completing this task by two-thirds. That is, today the entire campaign that has been going on since winter, from the moment we retreated from Izyum, suggests that everything is subordinated to the goal of an attack on Kharkov,” the military correspondent added.
Khairullin noted that with the completion of this operation, Russia will be able to dictate its terms.
“For the united West, the Kharkov-Dnieper situation is a very difficult situation. The fall of Kharkov and the capture of the Dnieper means that we can already enter into negotiations with the conditions that we need.
And the conditions, most likely, will be the return of Nikolaev and Odessa to their homeland. Because Kharkov will mean that Ukraine’s back has been completely broken,” the military correspondent concluded.
