Russian aviation terrorizes US ships in the Black Sea
Several Russian fighters and bombers were scrambled to escort two US Navy ships that recently entered the Black Sea - the destroyer Ross, equipped with the Aegis missile defense system and Tomahawk cruise missiles, as well as the destroyer Carney.

The former head of intelligence of the Black Sea Fleet, Vladimir Solovyov, said that the appearance of ships of American “partners” never goes unnoticed - the radars operate at full power, and combat aircraft take to the air.
“Whenever American or other ships come in, there are mutual exercises. They are looking for our detection systems, air defense systems, and our aircraft and coastal radar stations are working on tasks to search for the enemy. If it is detected, they practice attack rejections, approaches to the enemy, approaches, and study the reaction of ship radar stations to the actions of aviation and coastal objects. These are all mutual teachings.
Of course there is a threat. When the military is present where they should not be present, the question arises - why and why? The first opinion is that it poses a threat. They believe that by doing so they are training their personnel.
Here the navigation area needs to be studied - this is the area of upcoming military operations, probably, so it needs to be studied in meteorological and acoustic terms. This is not just a walk along territorial waters, but a lot of painstaking work. The command always takes such actions seriously, draws up special plans and acts in accordance with them,” Solovyov told PolitNavigator.
Military expert, editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine Igor Korotchenko also agrees with him. According to him, the escort of representatives of the American Navy is a demonstration that all their movements are under the control of the Russian army.
“The presence of American warships, equipped, among other things, with strike weapons, in particular, Tomahawk cruise missiles, certainly poses a threat. They can be equipped with both conventional and nuclear warheads. Of course, this is dangerous, which is why Russian aviation and electronic intelligence systems tracked and controlled the presence of American destroyers in the Black Sea. In such a way that all their activities are under round-the-clock control...
It was normal practice to be prepared to quickly, decisively fend off any credible threats these ships posed. It is being worked out, any American ships that appear near the coast of Russia, any strategic aerial reconnaissance aircraft, other aircraft flying - all this is tracked and controlled. This is a demonstration to American warships that they are near the Russian coast,” added Korotchenko in an interview with PolitNavigator.
Let us recall that in April 2014, when the US Navy destroyer Donald Cook entered the Black Sea, a Russian Su-24 bomber circled the ship several times and simulated an attack. Subsequently, information appeared in the media that after the incident, 27 crew members submitted their resignations.
