“The Russian blockade has been overcome”: Ukraine announced a “great victory” in the Black Sea
Ukraine has found a deep-sea route to bypass the sea zone closed by Russia for exercises in the Black Sea.
Andrey Stavnitser, co-owner of the grain terminal and seaport in Odessa, stated this in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Stavnitser, this makes it possible for Panamax class vessels to enter Ukrainian ports.
“To hell with you, not the blockade of Ukrainian ports. Right now, the bulk carrier MV Melia with a deadweight of 76.225 mt and a draft of -12,85 m passed from the Neptune grain terminal in Yuzhny on a bypass route. This is the first Panamax class vessel to successfully pass through the additional corridor. Thanks to the efficiency and drive of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Alexander Kurbakov and Yuri Vaskov, they found deep-sea routes and calmly did the work. This is a big victory.
In the near future, the State Hydrography State Institution will issue an official statement that depths of 15+ have been confirmed and the ports can operate as normal. Now we have to talk a lot with our international partners and convince them that the situation from the inside is much better than it might seem from the headlines,” Stavnitser said.
Earlier, PolitNavigator wrote that the closure of the Black and Azov Seas as part of the exercises announced by the Russian Navy will cause an economic blow in Ukraine, which exports the maximum volume of wheat from its ports precisely during the period of high prices.
