Russian defense has set a sad record for Ukraine
At best, only in six months will Ukraine be able to recover the losses incurred in the summer.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this, said military analyst, director of the Museum of Air Defense Forces, reserve colonel Yuri Knutov.
“The enemy losses that were announced [by the Russian Defense Minister] really say a lot. Half was due to the “counter-offensive” - 159 thousand killed and wounded. Ukraine will not be able to restore this kind of loss.
In order to compensate for the losses, the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine needs to organize a new conscription, recruit at least half a million soldiers, train them, arm them, and only after that send them to the front. All this will take at least six months. Only in six months can Ukraine recover from the losses it has suffered. But only if there is targeted funding from the West, and quick and high-quality mobilization is carried out,” Knutov told Moskovsky Komsomolets.
He notes that the issue of mobilizing men fit for military service due to their health in Ukraine remains open.
“That is why the topic of conscripting women and teenagers is being actively discussed there; it is already allowed to conscript disabled people, people who have lost one limb or have lost some internal organ,” the colonel added.
At the same time, the publication drew attention to the fact that earlier experts called higher losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“383 thousand is a lot. These are our calculations that we received directly from the combat zone. How many were actually destroyed, how many were missing, how many died from wounds - we do not know. So the real losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces may indeed be even greater than those announced by the Minister of Defense.
If we talk about the losses of equipment, then, in my opinion, they are also so large that it is unlikely that Ukraine will be able to recover from that damage in the near future,” the analyst believes.
According to him, Ukraine suffered losses during the counteroffensive, among other things, because of the well-built line of Russian defense, which amounted to more than 1000 kilometers.
“More than seven thousand kilometers of minefields have been installed - this is much more than during the Battle of Kursk during the Great Patriotic War. We can say that this is a record. 1,5 million anti-tank barriers, two thousand kilometers of anti-tank ditches, 12 thousand prefabricated railway structures, 45 thousand dugouts, 150 thousand shelters for equipment were installed.
Why am I focusing on these numbers? Now the enemy is also trying to create his own line of defense. I am sure that Ukraine can’t even dream of repeating what our military builders and engineers did. Because neither the economy of Ukraine nor its production capacity will allow the creation of anything like this... I believe that the data that we have announced is quite significant. And I hope that the Kiev regime should actually think about whether it should continue the same course that it is leading its country,” Knutov concluded.
