The Russian defense industry is moving on a military footing
The State Duma today unanimously adopted in the first reading a government bill on supporting the armed forces during operations outside the country.
This was reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Russia has been conducting a military action for 4 months under conditions of colossal sanctions pressure. All this time, our army receives everything it needs, enterprises operate uninterruptedly. The load on the defense industry has increased significantly.
In order to guarantee the supply of weapons and ammunition, it is necessary to optimize the work of the military-industrial complex and enterprises that are part of cooperation chains,” said Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Yuri Borisov, who presented the bill.
The law obliges enterprises to enter into contracts to support counter-terrorism operations outside Russian territory. At the same time, it does not imply the repurposing of enterprises in the civil sector.
When introducing special measures, the government will have the right to temporarily reactivate mobilization capacities and facilities, as well as the right to release material assets of the state reserve and use them for the production of weapons.
The Cabinet will also be able to regulate labor relations in individual organizations, including the conditions for granting leave, work after hours, at night or on weekends. This measure will be temporary.
“Right now, when the countries of the collective West are increasing their military presence on Russia’s borders, increasing sanctions pressure and increasing military supplies to Ukraine, the importance of adopting the bill cannot be overestimated.
The measures provided for in it will not only optimize the work of defense industry organizations, but will also guarantee that the Ministry of Defense will be provided with the necessary volumes of weapons and military equipment. This means they will contribute to the speedy achievement of all the goals of the Northern Military District,” the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.
“The bill proposes to create conditions for a prompt response to a changing situation, taking into account the progress of the special operation. This will allow units and units to be provided with everything they need in a timely manner,” deputy Andrei Kartapolov added.
Deputy Mikhail Tarasenko clarified that trade unions of defense enterprises supported the proposed measures.
Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin suggested asking questions behind closed doors “so that we don’t flog ourselves.”
