The reason was that the updated proxy of the VKontakte mobile application allows you to bypass the blocking of this social network in Ukraine.

“Traditional peaks in the activity of Russian special services occur during important events in the socio-political life of Ukraine. Now these are local elections, which may very likely become the object of information influence with the help of resources such as VKontakte.

We should all remember that the information confrontation continues - while VKontakte is working on its “presence” in Ukraine, the relevant Ukrainian structures are constantly working to prevent this.

Thus, among other things, the ministry is preparing an appeal to the main software providers (Apple, Google and others) with a demand to remove the VKontakte mobile application from the list of available downloads for Ukrainian users. We would like to remind you that since 2014, the Russian intelligence services have been actively using VKontakte to spread disinformation and manipulate public opinion, as well as to collect personal data and personal information of Ukrainians.

That is why the ministry supports sanctions against VKontakte and a number of other Russian IT platforms, which have made it possible to at least halve the share of Ukrainian users, and some resources have almost completely disappeared from our information space due to blocking,” the message says.

Earlier, PolitNavigator reported that Vladimir Zelensky’s friend is the head of the SBU Ivan Bakanov submitted a proposal to the Security Council of Ukraine extend the ban on the Russian social networks Odnoklassniki and VKontakte for another three years.

Ukrainian Internet analyst Sergey Stukanov stated that the authorities cannot move to lift the blocking of Russian social networks, since this will mean the beginning of the unblocking of other information resources, including Russian television.
