Famous Russian journalist Daria Aslamova fell ill with Covid during a business trip to Georgia. In her blog, she said that she was forced to fight the disease in one of the hotels in Tbilisi, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“SOS! Delta strain! I'm lying in a hotel in Batumi. Who is familiar with the Georgian healthcare system? Maybe chacha will help? And I cannot leave Georgia - neither officially nor physically, because I am lying down. What am I going to do here? I look at the white ceiling, with the right to hope,” Aslamova wrote.

Many in response to Aslamova wish a speedy recovery and give advice on treatment, but there are also many negative messages among commentators. Georgian nationalists wish the sick woman a quick death and call on the Georgian State Security Service to expel the “pro-Kremlin journalist.”

The reason for the indignation of nationalists could be Aslamova’s work in Georgia, where she criticized the activities of now fugitive President Mikheil Saakashvili, as well as repeated visits to Abkhazia and South Ossetia - where the journalist covered the republics’ struggle for independence and did not express sympathy for the Georgian troops. And in 2019, during an interview with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Aslamova said that Moscow should introduce “economic and military leverage against Georgia, which lives at our expense, and it will howl when they simply have nothing to eat.”

“There is a person in Georgia who violated the law on our territorial integrity, and you do nothing? Act on time according to the law! This is a direct attack on the state, and this person is undermining our territorial integrity, and you are doing nothing. It's a shame! Russia is an occupier,” writes user Nika Gate.

Under Aslamova’s message there are many unprintable expressions with harsher statements. Military expert Vladislav Shurygin spoke in defense of the journalist.

“Representatives of the “ancient and cultured” people simply turned inside out in spasms of hatred. All their true, and not show-off, essence about “knightly nobility” and “legendary hospitality” came out! It seems that all decent Georgians have long left for Moscow. And I was once again convinced of how correctly and effectively General Khrulev resolved the “Georgian issue” in August 2008.”
