It is noted that the granite pedestal is 2,5 m high, on it there is a bronze bust about 1,3 m high. On the pedestal is carved the inscription “... Embrace, my brothers, I pray you, I beg you...”. The monument to Kobzar was created by architect Alexander Skorobogatko, artist Alexander Krutikov and sculptor Boris Ulyanova. The funds for its creation, which amounted to 3 million rubles, came from donations from Russian citizens.
According to the participants of the event, the opening of the monument was dedicated to the two hundredth anniversary of the birth of T. Shevchenko. After all, his name is closely connected with Novosibirsk. Thus, during the Great Patriotic War, exhibits of the Shevchenko Museum evacuated from Kyiv were stored in the local opera house. The city has Shevchenko Street and the Shevchenkovsky residential area, and the art museum contains a bust of Shevchenko made from his death mask, kept in St. Petersburg.
