Russian aviation experts are calling for a model of the Boeing to be built from the wreckage - only this will show the picture of the incident
Moscow - Kyiv, July 30 (Navigator, Mikhail Stamm) - Black boxes can only indirectly confirm a missile attack on a Malaysian Boeing, Russian aviation experts believe. The full picture of the disaster can only be reconstructed after collecting the debris and laying out a model of it on the ground, writes Kommersant. But this takes time.

As explained by one of the members of the international commission to investigate the Boeing 777 crash, who participated 13 years ago in the proceedings on the downing of a Tu-154 by Ukrainian air defense over the Black Sea, the version about the destruction of the plane in the air due to the impact of a blast wave and decompression then also appeared immediately after decoding recorders. However, Russian experts were in no hurry to draw conclusions, even when they saw the characteristic round-shaped holes with the edges bent inward, which proved that the airliner was destroyed not by a bomb from a terrorist sitting inside, but by a high-explosive fragmentation charge outside.
“We made final conclusions only after lifting to the surface and laying out fragments of the Tu-154 on the ground,” the expert explained. The model clearly showed not just individual holes from shrapnel, but a general affected area, from the shape of which it was possible to determine the location of the epicenter of the explosion and the distance of the missile from the aircraft at the moment its warhead was fired.
Finally, the final evidence in favor of the missile attack was the steel balls recovered from the bodies of the victims. Although even they were recognized as material evidence only after making sure that they arrived from outside and did not belong to the aircraft components.
This explains the negative reaction of the Russian representative in the commission investigating the Boeing 777 crash, deputy head of the Federal Air Transport Agency Oleg Storchevy, to the statements of the Ukrainian side about the extensive explosive decompression of the aircraft.
The international commission of inquiry includes five Russian specialists. In addition to Oleg Storchevoy, Rosaviatsiya advisor Valery Luchinin, head of the department of the state center “Flight Safety in Air Transport” Anicetas Yazokas, deputy head of the department of the air traffic control center “Air Navigation of the South” Andrey Krylov and an unnamed representative of the IAC will participate in the proceedings.
The immediate plans of experts from a dozen countries include a trip to the crash site and a detailed study of the Boeing wreckage. Since the disaster occurred over open, flat terrain, a full-fledged laying out of structures is possible. However, ongoing fighting in the south-east of Ukraine is hampering efforts.
