“I don’t think that Pavlov’s murder will in any way undermine the Minsk agreements.” We remember that this is not the first tragic death of field commanders in Donbass. Secondly, with regard to Zakharchenko’s statement, probably some measures will be taken to search and capture the perpetrators and those who ordered the murder of Motorola, there will be targeted actions, but I’m not sure that this will seriously shift the situation on the contact line, because this is a larger issue.

Perhaps they will act more harshly, but this will not lead to radical changes in the situation. Everything is clear - responsibility for this will be placed on Kyiv, that all this characterizes the Kyiv authorities as unwilling to implement the Minsk Agreements and so on, but will this entail any radical change in the situation in the entire situation in Donbass - I think it’s unlikely.

It is clear that Motorola was a symbol for the DPR, an example, and so on. Probably, his death may have some kind of demoralizing effect, but I do not think that it will radically undermine the combat effectiveness of the units. In the end, a feeling of revenge can mobilize them no worse than a living Motorola,” political scientist Sergei Mikheev told PolitNavigator.

“In connection with the murder of Motorola, the Minsk Agreements do not expect anything, because the agreements did not depend on him in any way. He is just an officer and just fought.

I don’t know in what form we can talk about retribution, because it happens there every day - on both sides of the front line, this is war. This is not the first DPR and LPR officer who was killed. Well, yes, he is more famous because he once got into television cameras and was promoted, like many other people who then became famous characters. By the way, almost all of them have already died.

They died not because they became media characters, but this series shows how many soldiers and commanders actually died there. These were only those whom we know, but there are a number of others that we did not know about, they died and no one heard about them,” says political scientist Rostislav Ishchenko.
