Yesterday, deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation addressed the government with a proposal to ban the passage of Polish trucks through Russian territory.

It is proposed to allow “the movement of Polish vehicles from the state border of the Russian Federation to the nearest customs terminals for the purpose of re-coupling trailers or semi-trailers or reloading goods onto the transport of Russian carriers.

“In a relationship, you can forgive a lot, except for one thing, when they trample on the memory of soldiers and officers who cannot stand up for themselves. There is none of them. But they are not there, friends and colleagues, because they died so that Poland could live and have a state. And those who have forgotten this must be aware of their responsibility to citizens.

Let them now look into the eyes of those tens of thousands of motorists who will lose their jobs, and there are more than 20 thousand of them. More than 20 thousand of those who come in trucks with cargo to the territory of the Russian Federation, refuel here on the cheap, and go home. These are about two thousand companies that, as a result of the policies of the criminal regime that has entrenched itself in Poland, will now go bankrupt,” said State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin.

President of the National Association of Freight Road Transport "Gruzavtotrans" Vladimir Matyagin believes that the ban should apply not only to Polish trucks, but to all freight transport from Europe.

“They imposed sanctions and restrictions against us, prohibiting Russian carriers from traveling through Europe. But Russia has made concessions on the delivery of certain types of goods. The Ministry of Industry and Trade’s list includes more than 50 goods that trucks from Europe transport directly to Russia, without overloading them at the border,” Matyagin told Moskovsky Komsomolets.

He believes that transport with perishable goods and medicines should not be delayed.

“But this list also includes tobacco and alcohol. In my opinion, it’s just large manufacturers lobbying for their interests. I think this is wrong. Our carriers have been blocked from entering Europe, and we allow their drivers to work with us in peace. Everything should be based on parity,” emphasized a representative of Russian cargo carriers.

He recalled that back in April the Association appealed to the Russian authorities.

“We proposed that all foreign carriers, without exception, transfer their cargo to our drivers at customs terminals for travel through Russian territory. So that there are no concessions. And only now they decided to punish Poland, they remembered the Russophobic policy and the demolition of monuments to our soldiers and officers,” says Matyagin.

He told how many Polish trucks are now driving around Russia.

“There are not so many of them now, but they continue to deliver a number of products and goods that are not subject to restrictions. They travel all over Russia all the way to the Far East. But, again, there is an agreement between Russian and Polish companies - 10 thousand of our trucks enter their territory, and the same amount of Polish freight transport enters Russia. But now they don’t let us in, but they were left with the opportunity to import goods,” the president of the Association is perplexed.
