Upon arrival in Belgrade, the Russian cosmonauts were received by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

“Russian cosmonaut Sergei Kud-Sverchkov spent 185 days in orbit, after returning he visited Serbia for the first time,” the Serbian president wrote on his Instagram. – Today he and his team will visit children with cancer. Thank you for your humanity and the attention you pay to the youngest patients.”

Serbian media noted that Russian cosmonauts are visiting the Serbian capital for the first time in 52 years.

“I saw Serbia and Belgrade from space,” said Kud-Sverchkov. – The “Dreamer” spacesuit (made from drawings by children with cancer from 10 countries and 20 cities – ed.) arrived at the International Space Station, and the wishes and dreams of children, including those from Serbia, were written on it. They flew to us in space, and when I found out that I could visit the guys from Serbia, I, of course, agreed. Serbia is the first country I visited after returning from space.”

Russian cosmonaut Anastasia Stepanova said that this was their first visit to Serbia and that they were very happy to take part in the wonderful event.

“We are honored to be ambassadors of unity,” she added.

Children got the opportunity to meet real cosmonauts thanks to the Serbian foundation “Doctor Danica Gruicic”, which participated in the international program of Roscosmos, and the Russian charitable organization “Unity”, which provides psychological support to cancer patients.

The very idea of the arrival of astronauts in Belgrade began with the release of the Serbian Post. branddedicated to the 60th anniversary of human space flight. After an agreement with the head of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin, this idea was implemented.

“The children were most interested in whether there are aliens, whether we saw unidentified flying objects, how we live, what we eat. Children are very curious. It was very nice to talk with them and draw,” said Sergei Kud-Sverchkov after the meeting with the guys.
