Moscow – Kyiv, January 16 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Stamm) – Special correspondent Novaya Gazeta spoke with teenagers in Slavyansk, occupied by Ukrainian troops, which, in her words, was “monstrously destroyed,” especially on the outskirts. There has been no shooting for many months, but no one is going to forget or forgive anything. Moreover, it is unknown under whose power Slavyansk will be tomorrow and how people will behave, the publication writes. Among the Slavic schoolchildren there are pro-Ukrainian and pro-Russian ones. Moreover, among the former, judging by their direct speech, critical thinking is completely turned off.

The situation in Slavyansk is strange, the mouthpiece of Russian liberalism is surprised. “It would seem that after fighting with the militias there should be a tough attitude towards them. Everyone must stand for a united Ukraine. But in reality there is nothing like that, Novaya is perplexed. – The townspeople have interfered and continue to interfere with the demolition of the monument to Lenin. And they certainly don’t want to see Shevchenko in his place. There's a joke going around. “What’s the easiest way to get punched in the face? Get on the trolleybus and shout: “Glory to Ukraine!” At the local automaidan we saw this with our own eyes: the head of the administration began to make a fiery speech in Ukrainian, but after about five minutes he could not resist and continued to brand the enemies in their language. It doesn’t work in Ukrainian.”

Nevertheless, “Novaya” still found teenagers who hate Russia.

When the militia occupied the city, the National Guard fortified itself on Mount Karachun, very close to the house of Oksana, the first interlocutor of the Russian liberal publication. She says that “the militia drove around the city at terrible speed. They crashed into a house - that’s it, there’s no house. At the checkpoints they held on tightly and did not allow us to pass. And because of the documents and simply. “You’re dressed somehow wrong, you’re saying something wrong.” Shops stood on fire, wires from trolleybuses lay everywhere along the streets. Factories were bombed. There was not a single living factory on Mashmet. A nightmare was happening at the bus station. I will never forgive this, never. I don’t know how after this you can go to Russia to relax or study there. I can't go there. These are my enemies. Everything Russian makes me shiver,” Oksana concludes.

“I’ve never been to Russia, but they told me that there’s a lot of bad things there,” Dima, 16, told Novaya. “Almost no one at our lyceum went there.” There were three people, but they weren’t really my friends, just acquaintances. After some time, I may be called up, and they may be called up too. And now we will stand in front of each other with weapons. Yes, I'm ready to shoot and kill them. So what to do? I don’t want the DPR to conquer us all. I've seen it happen. Thank God they were driven away. I never loved them, I was always for Ukraine.”

“Most people here are for Novorossiya,” says Boris, 17. — There was a case recently when a man approached the military on the street and began to be indignant: why are you here and why?! Say what you want, as long as you are unarmed. If you have a weapon, you will be detained, of course. I don’t know if this is true or not, but in stores they always say that the National Guard stole something there and caused mischief. Everyone gets their own way, and in the end the rumor takes on cosmic proportions. Fights even happen. Drunks bully the military: “Why did you come here, you’re disturbing us!” I’ve seen it myself many times.”

Boris himself is for the DPR. “I have no prejudices against Russia, and certainly no hatred. I am only against those with weapons. My future profession is an assistant driver. It is possible that I will work on the Kyiv-Moscow train, why not?” he says.
