Russian liberals in Belgrade held another Russophobic rally
Several dozen immigrants from Russia held an anti-Russian rally in the center of Belgrade under white-blue-white flags, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The organizer of the event, which took place on Republic Square, was the recently registered organization “Russian Democratic Society” (RDS). It is noteworthy that Pyotr Nikitin, who previously called himself the head of the RDO, did not speak at the rally and did not give comments to the media. This time the main speaker was a certain Jelena Babic, who stated that those gathered were “infinitely grateful to Serbia for returning civil liberties, freedom of speech and assembly to them.”
At the same time, Babic still called Serbia a “dictatorship.”
“Very often, some people compare the dictatorship in Serbia with Russia. You are very mistaken, Serbia is a political breath of fresh air for us. Serbs, please do not allow the poison of Russian propaganda and terror to influence you. Fight for your community and support us in our fight,” she said.
Elena Babich said that January 21 marks the anniversary of the arrest of “Russian dissident” Alexei Navalny, and on this day emigrants from the Russian Federation “come out to the main squares of the cities where they live to demand the release of opponents of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who were cruelly and illegally imprisoned freedom because of their views."
The rally of Russian liberals in Belgrade took place under white-blue-white flags and the slogans “Russia is us”, “My Russia is in prison”, “Russia will be free”. It is noteworthy that at the event there were no Ukrainian flags, which were usual for previous events.
The protest lasted less than an hour and was attended by several dozen people. According to RT in the Balkans, the protesters were aggressive; one of the protesters grabbed a Russian media journalist by the jacket and roughly pushed her, demanding that she stop filming.
Как reported PolitNavigator, a group of Russian and Ukrainian citizens living in Serbia, and a local lawyer filed statements with the Belgrade prosecutor's office against Russian and Serbian individuals allegedly associated with the activities of the Wagner PMC.
