Russian Mi-24s covered Belarusian paratroopers
Military personnel of Belarus are returning from joint tactical exercises in Russia: from the Mulino training ground in the Nizhny Novgorod region and from the Polivno training ground near Ulyanovsk.
This was reported by the official website of the Ministry of Defense of Belarus, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
About 500 military personnel took part in the maneuvers near Ulyanovsk, about 100 units of military and special equipment, as well as army aviation helicopters were involved.
According to the legend of the exercise, paratroopers must occupy an area of responsibility between the warring parties to ensure the maintenance of peace and security in the region.
One of the most spectacular elements tested during the active phase of the exercise was the use of a mobile reserve using army aviation.
Belarusian paratroopers from the 38th Brest Separate Guards Air Assault Brigade carried out a tactical airborne landing under the cover of Mi-24 attack helicopters.
At the Mulino training ground in the Nizhny Novgorod region, the military played out an episode of maneuver defense during the initial stage of a joint company tactical exercise. To covertly move to new firing positions through wooded areas, tankers and motorized riflemen used smoke screens, natural means of camouflage, and radio silence.
In addition, in March, a joint air force and air defense staff training and a working meeting of the command on organizing communications took place during the joint strategic exercise “Zapad-2021”.
“Each year, operational and combat training activities in neighboring states are increasing. In this regard, the intensity of training on the Belarusian side will increase, including shooting, driving combat vehicles, tactical and fire training,” said Major General Igor Demidenko, commander of the Western Operational Command of Belarus.
