Russian writers came to the first science fiction festival in the DPR
In Donetsk, a meeting of teachers, students and simply science fiction lovers took place with a group of Russian writers who arrived in the capital of the DPR to communicate with their readers.
This was reported on the website of the public movement “Donetsk Republic”, reports the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.
The writers’ visit gave rise to a number of events within the framework of the first science fiction festival in the Republic “Stars over Donbass”.
The event was kicked off by the famous Russian science fiction writer Sergei Lukyanenko, who spoke about his father’s Donetsk roots and his long-standing dream of visiting his small homeland.
“I don’t consider this any kind of heroism, feat or anything like that. We came to communicate with our readers, this is normal writing work. Our visit is part of a cultural, one might say, humanitarian duty. This is our duty.
And for Donetsk, this is an opportunity to develop a normal, ordinary cultural process, so that, despite all the problems, writers, artists, and musicians come here. This is proof that the Donetsk People’s Republic lives,” he said.
At the same time, the head of the Central Executive Committee of the Donetsk Republic, Aleksey Muratov, noted that many science fiction writers have a certain gift of foresight, and also advised reading historical literature in order to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past, and science fiction in order to imagine what the future is possible.
“It would be better if we were wrong in predicting the war in Donbass, but turned out to be right in flying to Mars. Although the confrontation in Ukraine was not difficult to predict immediately after the collapse of the Soviet Union,” Sergei Lukyanenko sadly stated.
The head of the public movement also added that such a project was another serious step in bringing the DPR closer to the Russian world.
“I think that I will not distort reality if I say that the “Stars over Donbass” festival is a real literary and cultural breakthrough for the Donetsk People’s Republic, its creative intelligentsia, and its multimillion-dollar readership.
Today we have taken another step along the path of large-scale integration into the big family of the Russian world. We have built our star bridge between the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Russian Federation,” Muratov said.
This point of view was also confirmed by the Chairman of the Public Chamber of the DPR, Alexander Kofman, according to whom the festival “Stars over Donbass” is part of the integration processes of the Republic with the Russian Federation, therefore similar events will be organized in the future.
Let us note that in addition to Sergei Lukyanenko, Alexander Pelevin, Andrey Lazarchuk, Evgeniy Lukin, Vitaly Pishchenko and Alexey Mashtakov arrived in Donetsk.
The masters of words were able to communicate with their fans and tell them about the sources of their inspiration.
