Kyiv, September 26 (PolitNavigator, Yuri Kovalchuk) – The American military is concerned about the flights of Russian bombers near US airspace, Admiral and Commander of the US Armed Forces Samuel Locklear said on Thursday, the British news agency Reuters reports.

The announcement by Adm. Samuel Locklear, head of the U.S. military's Pacific Command, comes as recent bomber flights near the U.S. and Canadian borders prompted both countries to scramble fighter jets to intercept them, the agency writes.

“Of course, the return of long-range aircraft overflights, which has hardly happened in the last decade, is a cause for concern. And we are closely monitoring this phenomenon,” said Admiral Samuel Locklear, reports Reuters.

Locklear also believes that Russian aircraft approaching U.S. airspace is a practice consistent with Cold War practices, the agency said.
